Challenge # 7: Height (and an update on Legos for Fionn)

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the awesome creations you submitted this week! This week's challenge is... drum roll, please... HEIGHT! Build the tallest structure you can and find out how tall is too tall! If it's possible include a picture of yourself next to your creation so we can see scale, and measure it if you can. We have a few new people joining us... welcome! Please introduce yourselves, tell us your age and a little about yourself. Email me your pictures by Thursday, April 3rd. Just click on the link to email.

In other news, we added up the money that everybody donated for Fionn and in total we got $80! I decided to buy the Galaxy Squad Galactic Titan.

It is one of the coolest sets that there is and comes with over 1,000 pieces! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed so that we could get this for him. Hopefully it will help him through this hard time.

Looking forward to seeing how high you can build this week!

Happy building!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Completed Challenge # 6: Space

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm late! (Huh, why does that sound like Connie Kendall?) I am pleased to announce that we have two new members: Travis, and Kadien! Anyhow, I hope that you all had a great time building these models, and my other announcement is that for members in the Oregon area, we will be gathering for a show and tell your Lego Creations/ Trading/ Meeting all you awesome builders/ all around good time. We will plan it soon! The new challenge will be announced soon, and I think you all will love it!

Thanks to those of you who contributed to Legos for Fionn! We are about to pick a set to send, and I'll let you know next time what it was. If anyone still wants to contribute, email me!
(You can click on the picture to see it bigger and read the text!)

       Happy building!

Miles, age 8
Space shuttle with a turret and a hyperdrive.

The cockpit is flipped up so you can see the pilot.

Wow, Miles! That looks like it could be a menacing battle ship!

This is my spaceship crashing into a meteorite.

----Hannah, age 8

That is such an awesome creation, Hannah! Good job on how you used a hinged 2x2 to slant the ship towards the space rock!

An alien on a meteor, it will destroy the whole world!
 By Diego, age 5.
Wow DA! That's awesome!

This is an alien in his spaceship and he's heading to Earth to destroy it!
By our new member, Travis.
Insane, Travis!
You have the makings of a master builder!

This is my creation! It is humanity's first early teleportation
machine! The first test was transporting a human from earth
to Pleem's Nexus, somewhere in the asteroid belt.
But something went horribly wrong! the intensely
high levels of radiation made the man's flesh dissolve!
Even though he was wearing a radiation suit!
By Peregrine.
Houston, we have no problem.
(yet.....)

Oh no!
Houston, NOW theres a problem!

It is two people in space collecting rocks who run into an alien.

By our new member, Kadien, Age 10.

Wow, Kadien! I really like the terrain! The hatch on the ship makes it really streamlined and look better! I also really think the moon buggy is a good feature!

Challenge # 6: Space (And a Special Challenge Too)

Hi everyone! Sorry for skipping last week, but I think you're going to be pretty happy with what we're doing. This week's challenge is going to be..... drum roll, please.... queue sic-fi music....

SOMETHING FROM OUTER SPACE!!

As always please email me your pics with a short description by Thursday and look for a post and new challenge Friday or Saturday.

Also, and even more importantly, my friend Story has a friend who has recently developed cancer. His name is Fionn, and he's 12 years old. He's going through chemotherapy and radiation right now and Story is doing a Lego drive for him. He's hoping that others will contribute Lego sets to help brighten this hard time for him. Story will be visiting him at the end of this month and will take the Lego to him then. If that were me, I would sure appreciate it!

So, I'd like to challenge you to help with this project. My family is contributing some money to buy Fionn a Lego set ourselves, and if you'd like to join in that would be great. You can email me and we will send you the address where to send it, or if you'd like to chip in to what we're buying you can, and then we can get him a bigger set! (Your mom can figure out the details with my mom.) And, please remember to pray for Fionn!

I can't wait to see what everyone builds this week! This challenge is one I've been meaning to do for a while, and maybe should have been one of the first ones. Happy building! From Peregrine.

Completed Challenge # 5: Natural Disasters

Hi everyone! Sorry this post is late. I've been at my Grandma's house and when I got home I didn't have enough time. I'm afraid it's late tonight so I won't be able to leave comments, but I love everyone's creation! I hope none of us ever encounter any of these cataclysms, especially the one at the bottom!

It's actually a volcano, it's actually made out of Legos! By Diego, age 5.

This is my earthquake picture. The three workers are trying to cut the tree into pieces to move it out of the way, because it fell down in the quake.
The guy upstairs is trapped in his own house because the stairs fell down in the earthquake. The fireman is trying to rescue him. The "head" on the ground is a dude in a hole in the road.

This second picture is an aftershock! The ladder is flying all over the place and hit the dude in the head. The police officer can't stabilize the ladder anymore! The hole closed up over the dude in the street.

                                            ---Adam, age 10

After a tornado in a small jungle town there is a bus turned over and there is a house covered with leaves.

Elisha, 13 years old

Hi I'm Miles, 8 years old. My brother Herman is 3. I decided to use his duplos to make a natural disaster. In the picture there is an upended train that has just been swept away by a tidal wave.
The blue themed object in the middle is the tidal wave, wiping out all in its wake. Up on the high tower the people are watching the wave coming......

Here is the 2nd picture which shows what happens after the tidal wave hits the tower:

 Another view of Mile's tower.

And finally, this is my ultimate disaster! It is
THE END OF THE WORLD!
A meteorite smashed into Central Park and made a giant sinkhole, out of which a crack ran to the
Suburban area of New York. A hot dog vendor fell in, and when they sent a rescue crew, they
realized that the crack was full of lava! But instead of finding the vendor, they only awakened
LAVA MONSTERS! There's one coming out of the crack and wielding a pipe, and some TNT
next to his foot, cause the SWAT in black put it there to try and blow it up, but its only going
to make it worse! Theres a horse rearing with fright and a crashed F-15 chopper behind a smashed house where a UNIT personnel is firing a sonic repeater at the lava monster. There is a street light that is cracked, and a businessman and a construction worker are running away. There are fuel pipes strewn across the place because the crack breeched the fuel line. The meteorite impact is sending the earth
out of orbit towards the sun!

A tree fell across the crack and a man is trying to get across!
